Directors & Choreographers

Heather Gehring

HEATHER GEHRING (ARTISTIC DIRECTOR) may have grown up on the family farm in Vermont, but she was born to dance. She began her training in dance at an early age at the School of the Boston Ballet and the School of American Ballet. Soon after graduating from Walnut Hill High School for the Performing Arts, Heather began performing with the Hartford Ballet Company. Never one to settle for conquering just one dance technique, she explored other styles such as modern, swing, Argentine Tango, and ballroom dance and went on to perform and compete in ballrooms and on stages around the world. In her field, Heather has done everything from theatrical ballroom dancing at Jacobs Pillow to a stint as a “Fly Girl” on MTV. She has entertained audiences in venues large and small including Lincoln Center, NYC Town Hall, NJ PAC, and the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. She has appeared in commercials, on television shows (Gossip Girl, Tony Danza, Fox TV Morning Show, and the Today Show, to name a few) and on the big screen in major motion pictures such as Little Manhattan and Disney’s Enchanted. Heather is the founder and director of Gehring Dancetheatre and currently works out of the Garden State Ballet and Dance Manhattan as well as doing professional shows with her dance partner Lou Brock. Heather and Lou co-created their first teaching DVD “Ballroom Dancing For Tough Guys” and were most recently seen performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and with the legendary jazz musician Wynton Marsalis at Harvard University.
